As part of their most recent unit on Environmental Science, students in Mrs. Geikie's 5th grade full remote classes were each asked to choose an ecosystem to research.  They determined which types of organisms existed in their chosen ecosystem. Finally, they explored how the energy present in that  ecological community is transferred from one organism to another.

Once they established that understanding, Mrs. Geikie gave them an open ended opportunity to represent their findings.  Some students, like Edie, created fully digital presentations that demonstrated the complexity of the interrelationships present. Other students opted to create posters that they then photographed.  And still others created 3D arrangements and turned in photos of those.

Mrs. Geikie was delighted by the diversity of the projects she received, discovering that their creativity made the explorations all the more fun for both students and teacher!
