We were pleased to offer CEMS & Pond Cove school tours to 30+ Cape citizens on Oct 29. As they toured they learned that this will be the first new school constructed in Cape in over 50 years. Furthermore, that although this investment for our students may be a difficult choice for Cape citizens, we think now is the time for the following reasons:
It takes a comprehensive approach to safety & security
It meets 21st century teaching & learning standards
It provides needed space for Special Education programming
It resets the clock to zero for 1 of our 3 schools with zero current student disruption
It will never be more affordable to build than today
It is imperative to address mechanical infrastructure before it fails
It includes prioritized Pond Cove Elementary & CEHS repairs, renovations, & additions
It supports our robust music, arts, & athletic programs
Increases safe community access to town facilities
A new middle school reduces the unknown risks & costs associated with renovation
