Greater Cape School and Community Alliance in the Portland Press Herald.

Cape Elizabeth High School senior Maya LaVallee's pre-med shadowing experiences at Maine Medical Center and InterMed exemplify the district's push for real-world, hands-on learning outside the classroom.

The district is moving to expand these types of opportunities by launching the Greater Cape School and Community Alliance. This new group expects to bring local business and non-profit leaders together with school staff to brainstorm and create partnerships, with the goal of better preparing students for the workforce and encouraging them to pursue careers in Maine. The Alliance aims to bolster the existing Pathways Program, which already provides students with internships and career-focused extended learning opportunities across various fields.
